Christina Aguilera Musically Reinvents Herself, But Still Looks A Smidge Cheap

Looking a bit like a pirate hooker (save for the Loubs), Christina Aguilera left West Hollywood club Trousdale, according to the Daily Mail.   The pop tart was out celebrating the release of her new single, “Not Myself Tonight”, off her newest album, Bionic (check out the art for the single in our gallery).  “Not Myself Tonight” is rumored to be debuted on radio stations this coming Monday, but nothing is confirmed.  The album, dropping next month, is a labor of love; Aguilera has been working on it since 2008, when she was pregnant with son, Max.  Asked to describe the new album earlier this year, Aguilera answered,

“‘I had a really hard time being light before. I’d get a
little weird about it being too clichéd. My first record was very
clich̩d pop Рwhat everyone else wanted.

Stripped was inspired by a lot of pain and Back To Basics
still had some sort of relation to my past. My new one is just about
the future – my son in my life, motivating me to want to play and have
fun.  Things that maybe I’ve been afraid to do in the past, to
allow myself to go to a place of ‘less singing’. I’m more vulnerable
and stronger at the same time.'”

Aguilera collaborated with Goldfrapp, Le Tigre, Ladytron and M.I.A.  I’m interested to see what kind of a sound she comes out with.  Each album Aguilera’s released has been relatively different from the last.  Stripped was raw and I really respected the music she made.  Back to Basics didn’t do much for me.  And her self-titled album?  I don’t even recognize that girl!

Aguilera hits the big screen in the upcoming film Burlesque, which also stars Cher, Stanley Tucci, Kristen Bell and Cam Gigandet.
