Christina Aguilera Finds Her Happy Place With ‘The Voice’
Christina Aguilera is having a great time on The Voice. The only female judge on the panel thinks of herself as the school teacher keeping Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton in line. “I think I have [to] bring a prop or something on set because they need a few slaps on the hand a few times,” Aguilera has said. “They keep me laughing a lot! I feel like a schoolteacher in a classroom full of naughty boys.”
The Voice brought in 11.8 million viewers when it debuted last Tuesday, according to People. The judges have a blast fighting over contestants, and playfully jab at one another to build teams of eight. Executive producer Mark Burnett told the magazine,
“They are all competitive and this show is like the singing version of the NBA Draft if you gave the players the power to choose their teams. Once Christina, Cee Lo, Adam or Blake press that button and turn their chair to indicate, ‘Hey, I want you on my team,’ but more than one turns around, the power shifts to the singer.”
Once teams are formed, the four judges will enlist the help of music industry heavy-hitters like Monica and Reba McEntire to help them prepare for competition.
Aguilera looks to be in good spirits these days. Tuesday night she dined at Babbo in New York City with boyfriend Matt Rutler, who seems to think those boots look super-awesome.
