Christian Bale Smiles At ‘Terminator’ Premiere In Japan Despite Reviews

June 4th, 2009 // 5 Comments

Critics have been less than kind with their treatment of Terminator Salvation, claiming that Christian Bale‘s performance is lackluster.

Citing Bale’s unnaturally deep voice he uses for his portrayal of John Connor, they also point out that his character seems overly grim.

However, you would never know from the big smile on Christian’s face here at the Japanese premiere for the summer action flick. Acting skills at work, people!

I saw Terminator Salvation last night and thought it was absolutely awful.

There were some arresting scenes but the plot was really tired and looked like it had been edited and re-edited and most of the acting was horrible.

Christian Bale has only one line of expression when acting … kind of an angry disbelief … that he used in every scene.

My friends who worked on the film said Christian was taking steroids while filming to bulk up which explained his terrible temper. Steroids make you angry!!!

That Dallas Bryce Howard woman who played his wife was even worse.

But that Anton kid who was also in the Star Trek movie was amazing.

I’ve seen Terminator: Salvation twice now. If that’s an example of a lackluster performance by Christian Bale, I’d hate to see intensity!

And what’s that about his character being “overly grim”? He’s facing the end of the human race. Gee, I wonder what he has to be grim about?!

I loved the movie and Bale’s performance, along with Sam Worthington and Anton Yelchin.
