You’d think being a lead actor and star in a major film franchise is a dream anyone would be willing to take, but by now Chris Evans seems a bit disenchanted by it all.
Chris was recently photographed for the cover of Variety, and opened up in an interview with them about possibly taking a break from acting (gasp) to direct instead, something I’m sure his fans will cry over for days.
No more Chris Evans in that tight Captain America suit? The world is suffering a great loss.
We’re not losing him just yet though. There are a few more years where Chris will be under contract with Marvel, and we’ll get to see him fighting crime and keeping the world safe yet again. Chris is also happy with the turn his character is taking in his upcoming movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
“They make him much more bad-ass in terms of his fighting style. I always wanted to see why Captain America was on this team of Avengers. He’s got to have a reason — he can’t just be really fast and punch really hard. Now, he’s much more aggressive, and he looks more lethal.” A dangerous, aggressive Chris? I can’t wait to see it.
Very soon though, Chris is looking to branch out and pursue a career in directing. “I’ve known for a while I wanted to direct, but (time) never really opens up. There’s another movie to do, there’s another acting job. It just got to a point where I was like, you know what — I have to do this. If I’m acting at all, it’s going to be under Marvel contract, or I’m going to be directing.”
Have no fear though, Chris will still be with us on the screen for a few years longer. “I bet by 2017, I’ll be done. That sounds so far away.”
Or just enough time for us to prep our goodbyes. For now though, we’ll be seeing him in his delightfully tight costumes again very soon. Thank goodness.
