Yesterday (June 25) was day 1 of shooting for young actress Chloe Moretz on the set of Carrie the remake of the original Brian De Palma directed film of ’76. The 15-year-old actress was spotted outside of a trailer dressed comfortably wearing a plain black tee, wayfarer sunglasses and sweatpants on the set in Toronto, Canada.
Moretz is approaching Carrie’s character with determination and enthusiasm. Moretz claims that the script has not only evolved since the original film but is comparable to the kind of twisted suspense involved in Darren Aronofsky‘s Black Swan.
Moretz happily tweeted about her experience having finished her first day (June 25) on set of the thriller flick. ”First day done :) Amazing day.. So happy to be apart of something do exciting :) Day 2 here we go ;)”
There is that age-old question as to whether the remake will outdo the original classic. Will the remake live up to the famed Stephen King novel? In the original Carrie, played by Sissy Spacek, and Carrie’s mother was played by Piper Laurie. Both actresses earned Oscar nominations for the film.
This film will be a breakthrough role for the young actress. As Carrie, Moretz plays a young disturbed girl who discovers her telekinetic powers and uses them to her advantage. The Dark Shadows actress seeks to illuminate a different version of Carrie than the original film. The re-make is directed by Kimberly Pierce. The thriller is expected to be released on March 15, 2013.
