Celebrities Celebrate Elvis’ Return To Las Vegas

A motley crew of celebrities turned out for the World Premiere Of Cirque Du Soleil’s Viva Elvis at the Aria Resort in Las Vegas last night.

Everyone from Ryan Seacrest to Carrot Top to Neil Patrick Harris to an orange Wynonna Judd was there to celebrate the show.

This isn’t just a show, it’s a glorious celebration of the life of Elvis Presley, the king of rock ‘n’ roll. Viva Elvis is a new genre for Cirque: a splashy, feel-good musical with circus acts based on the golden oldies recorded by a single, iconic singer. It’s nearest comparable would be the Cirque’s Beatles show, LOVE, playing down the street at the Mirage.

Priscilla Presley was there to check out the show that she helped shape. Word from a friend of Priscilla Presley’s is that she found the original Colonel Tom Parker character too comic to be accurate, and forged changes to better reflect his complex personality — humanize him, in other words. Parker and Presley enjoyed a close, but often complicated, relationship from the time Parker was brought aboard in 1956 to Presley’s death in 1977.
