Poor Lindsay Lohan. She spent her 27th birthday all by her lonesome. Well, Kind of.

TMZ reported that Lilo was denied by Cliffside (where she is currently in rehab) that she would not be able to have any visitors on her b-day except one — her lawyer, Shawn Holley.

The rehab center has a strict “no visitors policy” except on Sundays. Not all hope was lost for Lilo though. Certain visitors are allowed after visitor hours, like lawyers.

Cue Shawn.

Nick Stahl

I’m worried Nick Stahl won’t quit until he’s dead. I’m not sure what else it’s going to take to get him clean.

The 33-year-old was arrested early this morning after he was caught using meth at a Hollywood motel.

According to police the troubled actor was arrested around 5am when police found him and three other people using the drug. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time, police were at the motel to check on a possible parole violation of someone else. Stahl was arrested, along with the other people he was with.

Senator of Texas, Wendy Davis (D) took to the floor Tuesday morning to criticize a bill that would virtually ban abortion in the state of Texas.

The bill would act to shut down nearly all of the abortion clinics in the state which prompted an 11 hour filibuster by Senator Davis.

Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, had said that if the bill passed “abortion would be virtually banned in the state of Texas, and many women could be forced to resort to dangerous and unsafe measures.”

Adam Lambert, Neil Patrick Harris, Leonardo DiCaprio & 36 Other Celebrities React To DOMA & Prop 8 Victories On Twitter

June 26th, 2013 // Leave a Comment

Rarely do tears stream down my face while writing a post, but this post – Damn! What an amazing way to start off the day! What a great day for human rights (with the Texas abortion bill victory – go Wendy Davis!).

Twitter was flooded with celebrities reacting to the news that the Supreme Court struck down a key part of the federal Defense of Marriage Act on Wednesday and declared that same-sex couples who are legally married deserve equal rights to the benefits under federal law that go to all other married couples.

The decision is a landmark win for the gay rights movement. It voids a section of the law known as DOMA, which was adopted with bipartisan support in Congress in 1996 to deny all benefits and recognition to same-sex couples.  Read More »

Supreme Court Justices

The Supreme Court has struck down the Defense of MArriage Act (DOMA) in a 5-4 decision.

“DOMA is unconstitutional as a deprivation of the equal liberty of persons that is protected by the Fifth Amendment.”

The standard the court used: is “careful consideration”… not heightened scrutiny, but harkens back to Romer and Lawrence. Rational basis plus.

Paula Deen Has Officially Jumped The Racism Shark

Paula Deen

“The whole entire waiter staff was middle-aged black men, and they had on beautiful white jackets with a black bow tie. I mean, it was really impressive. That restaurant represented a certain era in America … after the Civil War, during the Civil War, before the Civil War … It was not only black men, it was black women … I would say they were slaves.”

– Holy fucking hell Paula Deen. The Food TV personality admitted that she’d hired black cater waiters to simulate pre-Civil War-era slaves for a colonial-themed wedding. The statement was made during her deposition in regards to a lawsuit in which former black employees of her Savannah, Georgia, restaurant claimed Deen and her brother Bubba forced them to use separate bathrooms and repeatedly used the N-word
