Carly Rae Jepsen's Presents 'This Kiss'

For a while I’ve been wondering how this video was going to turn out. We’ve seen photos of it and there was quite a bit of hype surrounding it due to the success of Call Me Maybe. Carly Rae Jepsen’s luck may have run out though. This song or video really aren’t living up to my expectations. You know what they say, once you’re at the top the only place you can go is down.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Jepsen and her music, but this is just severely disappointing. There are so many songs with the title This Kiss. It feels a little overused. Faith Hill, Ed Sheeran, and many other people have had a song with the same title.

There really isn’t any originality there. Do you all like it? It obviously fits the song, due to the repetitive “this kiss” line. I feel like there are other titles that would have been as fitting and could have been better.

As for the tone of it, it’s very upbeat. Would anyone expect less of the new “pop princess”? Of course not. Something about this reminds me of 80′s Madonna with a Rebecca Black twist. What happened to her anyway? I couldn’t help but notice that the songstress looks like a Demi Lovato/Alexz Johnson hybrid of some sort. Her face and facial features almost look like someone used an online baby morpher on her or something.

Usage of words like “sentimental” and “detrimental” were really impressive in this song! Whenever someone uses a larger word in a music piece, I find myself surprised.

I know it seems like I really hate this song, but I’m sure soon enough it’ll be added to my never ending guilty pleasure list.

What are your thoughts on the song and video? Love it or hate it? Let us know in the comments below!
