‘Captain America’ to Knock Out ‘Harry Potter’
Break out the martinis and popcorn, movie lovers. The weekend battle for the top grossing film will be a much closer than last week where our prediction was right and Harry Potter kicked the honey out of Pooh. This weekend a much worthier opponent will go against Mr. Potter in the form of Chris Evans and Captain America: The First Avenger.
Captain America will have quite the challenge ahead of him. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 grossed $475.6 million worldwide opening weekend, which earned them the crown of “Best Showing of All Time.” But with all the dedicated Harry Potter fans running to midnight showings, will there be anyone left to keep Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe at the top? They do have a tendency to get emotional when streaks end.
With Comic Con in full swing, Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment are hoping that the fourth comic book based film of 2011 will bring in similar sales to Potter.
Evans turns from scrawny to sexy in this film about fragile guy who is transformed into a superhero through a secret government program. Yes, this will take the number one spot due to the perfect formula to capture multiple audiences.
MEN: Comic book based.
WOMEN: A muscular Chris Evans… in spandex.
Friends with Benefits will be no competition, sorry. However, in the battle of white swan vs. black – the sex factor will actually be worthy of the R rating, unlike No Strings Attached with Ashton Kutcher and Black Swan co-star Natalie Portman. The chemistry between Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake is unmistakeable and believable. Then again, Kunis and anyone would have sexual chemistry.
