Britney’s Driving License Trial Dismissed

October 21st, 2008 // 1 Comment

A deadlocked jury voting 10-2 for an acquittal for Britney Spears in her driving without a valid California license case has resulted in a mistrial, and now a dismissal. For its part, the prosecution argued that Britney was just another example of a Hollywood celebrity acting as if she were above the law.

However, the defense countered that the case was only brought to court in the firs place because Britney is famous. Spears rejected to previous plea deals during the course of the case, her lawyer J. Michael Flanagan claims, because she wanted to keep the charge off her record.

Ultimately, Britney’s team argues that she should have been given the option to pay a nominal fine, as opposed to having the case go to trial.

Either way, Britney’s still dancing and really, that’s all that matters.
