BritGlee Took Over Television Last Night, Heather Morris Shined

Last night’s episode of Glee was as ridiculous as all the rest, but this time we got to hear Britney Spears hits as rendered by our favorite band of misfit teens.

I have only watched a total of maybe 5-7 episodes of this show, two of those being last night’s show and last week’s show. The same things that drive me nuts and force me to change the channel were ever present, but I must say this: Heather Morris is amazing. She danced her ass off, looked stunningly similar to real Britney, and of course had some of the best one-liners in the entire show.

Even real Britney tweeted, “Awww Heather Morris is so cute! Brittany S. Pearce. Ha! She was so fun to work with and was really sweet in person.”

The concept was such that all the Glee kids wanted to perform Britney Spears songs but weren’t allowed to and they all had hallucinogenic dreams in which they got to perform their songs and were newly inspired. And yes, even the real Britney showed up in some of the dream sequences.

Lea Michele’s “…Baby One More Time” performance was good, if not overacted as usual. Her voice is built for Broadway, not pop songs. There was not enough Jane Lynch and I realized I really couldn’t care about any of these characters or what happens to them. But I feel that’s okay. That the point of Glee is to just soak it up, the sensory overload that it is, and move on with your life.

Which is why I’ll tune in once in a while and see what the haps is, but a fan? Nay. However, with their onslaught of guest stars, like Gwyneth Paltrow appearing in November, it’s hard to stay away. She’ll be appearing as a substitute teacher on two episodes and we expect she’ll be singing some songs as well.
