BREAKING: Corey Haim Dead At 38 Of An Apparent Overdose

March 10th, 2010 // 3 Comments

Not the way I wanted to start my day out, but I’m sure Corey didn’t want to start his day off this way either.

Corey Haim died of a possibly accidental overdose. The Lost Boys star was 38-years-old. Police told TMZ that they were called to St. Joseph’s hospital in Burbank, CA shortly before 4AM PT to investigate.

This post will be updated as more details come in.

Update: This is pretty heartbreaking. Corey Haim collapsed in the bedroom of his mother’s apartment and four prescription bottles were found nearby … law enforcement sources told TMZ. Sources say Haim got out of bed at around 1:30 AM and collapsed in front of his mother. She called 911, and Corey was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Corey’s mom told authorities he had been battling prescription drug addiction for years.

Corey had been sick the last couple of days with flu-like symptoms. The medications recovered, however, were not related to his illness. No illicit drugs were found in the apartment.

Not a surprise but it’s sad just the same. RIP Corey.

Is it bad that I laughed at your first sentence?

If Corey could speak to his family and friends, I am certain he would say:
    When I am gone….
    Release me, let me go.
I have so Many things to see and do.
You mustn’t tie your self to me with tears,
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love and you can only guess,
How much you gave me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
Buth now it’s time I traveled on alone.
So grieve awhile for me, if grieve you must
then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It’s only for awhile that we must part
So bless the memories whitin your heart.
I wont be far away, for life goes on,
So, if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can’t see or touch me, I’ll be near,
and if you listen with your heart,
you’ll hear all my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way alone,
I’ll greet you with a smile and say, welcome home.
