Brandon Routh Puked While Watching Superman As A Child

May 19th, 2006 // 4 Comments

He got so excited over the thought of seeing Christopher Reeve in tights that little Brandon Routh blew chunks. Not really.

The 26-year-old, who will star as the popular superhero in this year’s (06) release Superman Returns, was devastated when his childish over-enthusiasm brought on a blinding headache and caused him to miss most of the film. He says, “When I was six years old I would dress up in my Superman pyjamas. “When the first film came out, I was so excited I got a migraine. I was puking through the movie, I don’t even remember watching it!”

No doubt he’s handsome. Lots of doubt that he will hold my attention after five minutes. Just seems like cardboard to me.

Yeahhhh…..Ummmmm.I call publicity bull……..Not an ounce of truth to his statement of. “When the first film came out, I was so excited I got a migraine. I was puking through the movie, I don’t even remember watching it!” Why you say…..Well it’s really quite simple! Superman came out in 1978 (I remember how excited I was to see it) Brandon did not emerge from his Mother until October 1979……Amazing how he managed to be so excited to see the film, that he managed to see it from his fathers sack!!

    Superman came out in 1978.

    He’s 26.

    Something’s wrong with this story.

THR: Were you a fan of Superman — the character, the movies, the TV shows — growing up?
Routh: As a kid, I was a big Superman fan. I was born in ’79, a year after the first film came out. I saw it years later. … I was so excited to see the first film that when I was watching it at home on television, I was jumping around the house with my Superman pajamas on. I ended up giving myself a migraine and was sick through half the movie, throwing up. He was a big influence on me at an early age.

When you’re five or six you might not realize you aren’t watching the original theatrical release. How vivid are your memories from that age anyway?
