Brad Renfro Cops A Plea

February 24th, 2006 // 5 Comments

Brad Renfro (in an old mugshot) has plead guilty on Thursday to charges of attempted heroin possession stemming from his arrest in an LAPD drug sting last December. Now if only Lindsay Lohan could follow Brad’s example and admit to her wrongdoings, everything would be much better in this world.

Renfro was sentenced to three years’ probation and ordered to enter rehab. Renfro’s admission, a reversal of a not guilty plea entered during his Jan. 18 arraignment, came after he struck a deal with prosecutors to avoid jail time.

But the trouble-plagued 23-year-old former kid star may not be in the clear yet: He could face up to 18 months behind bars should he violate the terms of his probation.

“It’s his first step in getting back to work and putting this all behind him,” Renfro’s attorney, Richard Kaplan, said outside the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Make that his second step: Shortly after his Dec. 22 arrest, Renfro voluntarily entered into a live-in drug treatment program, where he stayed for more than a month. The actor has since left the center, though Kaplan declined to state his client’s check-out date. No word yet on whether Renfro’s sobering stint fulfills his sentence. He is due back in court for another hearing on Mar. 6, where he will learn further details of his fate. In the meantime, he’s free on $10,000 bail.

Oh Brad, just over a month’s stay in rehab isn’t going to fix that little old recurring heroin habit. I’d check back in.

He just looks like he’d start a fight, anywhere, anytime.

  2. k

He’s actually a really nice guy…unfortunately bad things seek him out and he has a tendency to give in to temptation

  3. Dr. tia

I have only seen him in two movie and thats Bully and some gang movie. What else has he done ?

  4. Lynn

Hope he gets his life together. He is too young, talented and good looking to throw his life away all because of drugs.

as with many other child stars, he most likely didn’t have strong guidance from a parent figure to help them see right from wrong. most stage parents let their kids do whatever they want (Dina Lohan!) because the kid is their income, their cash-cow, and they don’t want the money train to end.

dr. tia, he was the kid in the movie version of “The Client”, the John Grisham book. I know there were other roles, but I think that’s what he was best known for.
