After being plagued for some time with directorial issues, Moneyball is finally underway. The film follows the story of the Oakland A’s baseball team and its maverick general manager Billy Beane (Brad Pitt), who used computer-generated analysis of statistics to draft players and successfully kept the sports team on budget.
Initially Steven Soderbergh was helming the picture and had rewritten the final script but now Bennett Miller is being listed as the director of the picture. Another case of creative differences it sounds like. There’s now a new script by Aaron Sorkin along with the original version by Steve Zaillian.
Whenever you hear about movies like this that have so many problems before they even get off the ground, especially with a script, it usually never ends well.
