What a great night to be in Hollywood. All the stars came out last night for the Los Angeles premiere of 8, the new play by the Oscar-winning writer of Milk, Dustin Lance Black, about California’s Proposition 8. For those of you that might be unaware, Prop 8 was the amendment that would ban gay marriage in the state. 8 follows the story of the legal proceedings and witness testimonies in the case that eventually found the ban to be unconstitutional.
It was really a who’s who of people taking part in the staged reading at L.A.’s Wilshire Ebell Theatre. Stars such as Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Bomer, Matthew Morrison, Chris Colfer, Jane Lynch and way, way more. You can find a taping of the play, made available by the American Foundation for Equal Rights, after the jump. Trust me, it’s amazing.
Launch the gallery to see all the stars on the red carpet. It’s all of the fabulous stars mentioned above, plus way more. It may have only been a one night event, but I’m sure we’ll remember this staged reading for a long while to come. Don’t forget to check out the performance after the jump!
