Seven months ago, the music video for the viral hit, “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen was released. It currently sits at over 307 million views on Youtube. People everywhere have covered it or posted a video of them and their friends dancing to it. Have you all seen the hot Abercrombie models doing their little dance? Did I mention it was hot? It’s almost better than Magic Mike!
Speaking of, I really wouldn’t mind seeing a video of that super sexy cast dancing around to this song. Fans could probably put together a video of them doing it. Perhaps they could voluntarily do it themselves – in costume, of course. Paging Channing Tatum and Joe Manganiello!
Just to be clear, this cover isn’t beautiful because of men dancing around in their birthday suits, nor is it annoying. By now people everywhere are probably sick and tired of the “Call Me Maybe” fad. Believe me, I’m right there with you. It’s possible to have too much of a good thing. The song was practically shoved down our throats.
So now the question is…what sets this cover apart from the numerous other covers?
It’s quite simple really. Instead of listening to an upbeat love song, which sounds slightly creepy when you really tune into the lyrics, we hear a slow, melodious song. It’s easy-listening, romantic, and relaxing. This is what the song should have been. Then again, if it weren’t so annoyingly upbeat, it probably never would have gotten the publicity it did.
Boyce Avenue covers some really spectacular songs and increases how great they are. I’ve fallen in love with many songs all over again because of this band. They cover everything from Cher Lloyd, to Maroon 5, all the way to One Direction. They have their own songs too, but what first drew me in were the covers.
Listen to this song, tell us what you think about it in the comments, and then head over to their channel and fall in love with the rest of their songs!
