Both her father/manager Matthew Knowles and pop star Beyonce Knowles are responding to the alleged “screeching tape” played on Howard Stern‘s Sirius radio show. The tape is supposed to be of the “Single Ladies” singer performing her hit “If I Were A Boy” on the Today show in November of last year.
Beyonce tried to shrug off the “completely ridiculous” gag saying, “Everyone’s heard me sing and it’s perfect timing, actually, because I’ll be on the Today show tomorrow singing ‘Halo,’ or tonight you can watch me sing live on David Letterman!”
But Ol’ Daddy Knowles didn’t get the memo that it was a joke. “At 12 years into her career, the last thing someone should be questioning is her vocal ability.” He went on to say in a statement that anyone who would believe the audio clip hadn’t been tampered with and would subsequently “question Beyonce’s vocal ability, they’ve gotta be an idiot.”
Exactly, dude. Chill out.
