Beyonce is many things. A singer, actress, entrepreneur, mother and badass. Just don’t call her sexist.
Beyonce covers this month’s Vogue UK where she opened up to the magazine about many personal things, like all the backlash she got for her latest single, “Bow Down”. Beyonce made sure to reaffirm her feminist cred adding that she’s a ” modern day feminist.”
She told the magazine, “But I guess I am a modern-day feminist. I do believe in equality. Why do you have to choose what type of woman you are? Why do you have to label yourself anything? I’m just a woman and I love being a woman.” Beyonce also touched on the reason for calling her upcoming tour the “Mrs Carter Tour.” And it’s not just a Jay-Z tribute.
“I feel like Mrs Carter is who I am, but more bold and more fearless than I’ve ever been. It comes from knowing my purpose and really meeting myself once I saw my child. I was like, ‘OK, this is what you were born to do’. The purpose of my body became completely different.” And she couldn’t stop talking about little Blue Ivy!
She noted how having Blue has given her the “audacity” and courage to share more parts of her super private personal life. Check out Beyonce’s full interview in May’s issue of Vogue UK.
