Christmas has arrived early, because Beyonce has just gifted the world with the greatest surprise of all: a fifth album, in its entirety, released exclusively onto iTunes yesterday.
Proving that she doesn’t require any hype to sell albums, Queen Bey bypassed all promotion to present us with an absolutely pristine 14-track, 17-video album. 30-second snippets of the videos can be ogled at on Beyonce’s YouTube page, and are highly recommended.
“Beyonce” (the LP, not the regal human being) has been met with enthusiastic reviews so far. Critics have speculated that it “could be her most personal [album] yet,” and praised it as “a striking collection of work.”
In a video shared on her Facebook page, Beyonce provided some insight on the creative process: “I remember watching ‘Thriller’ on TV with my family,” she stated. “It was an event, we all sat around the TV and now looking back, I am so happy I was born around that time. I miss that immersive experience.”
Well, that immersive experience is back in full force, because her new music video previews have amassed hundreds of thousands of views already. Allow me the pleasure of sharing some of my favorites below:
“Blue,” featuring a peek Blue Ivy‘s back:
“Blow,” in which Queen Bey goes old school in a skating rink:
“Partition,” which is so sexy I am dying:
The artfully filmed “Ghost”:
And Beyonce posing as a pageant contestant in “Pretty Hurts”:
So, have you purchased “Beyonce” yet, and is it the greatest Christmas miracle of them all? Share your thoughts in the comments!
