Bethenny Frankel works her ass off, as evident in her runaway hit, Bethenny Ever After. News recently broke that Frankel sold her Skinnygirl cocktail line to Fortune Brands’ Beam Global for, what insiders estimate, $120 million. Dollar sign. 1. 2. 0. Millions. Lot of zeroes. Everyone, drop what you’re doing and get to your nearest reality casting call as soon as humanly possible.
Frankel admitted to The Hollywood Reporter that she only joined Bravo’s The Real Housewives Of New York City back in 2008 to help boost her business. The Skinnygirl told THR, “”I went on the show single-handedly and exclusively for business.” Before finding fame on RHONYC, Frankel appeared on The Apprentice: Martha Stewart, had signed on as a spokesperson for Pepperidge Farm and had appeared on the Today show for a cooking segment. BTW, during this time she still took the subway to events because she couldn’t afford a cab ride. Frankel was nervous to rock the business boat by appearing on such a reality series, but eventually made up her mind to take a risk.

While the network would love for Frankel to keep on truckin’ with her Bethenney series, Frankel doesn’t want to wear out her welcome. She explained, “I like to leave a party when it’s in full swing. I don’t want to be there at 3 in the morning with the scary guy in the bad sweater with no teeth. I like to leave when everyone still has their teeth.” Frankel predicts her series will be around for a few more seasons, at the most.
What’s next for Bethenny? She’ll stay on with the Skinnygirl line to consult on marketing and creative design, and reports are surfacing that she’s been may get her own talk show. At least we can count on one more season of Jason Hoppy….and Bethenny. She was down in Miami Beach in February during the South Beach Wine and Food Festival, spreading the Skinnygirl word to South Florida.
