One simply cannot help but glance back (over and over and over again) at HRH Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge‘s Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding gown. When she left the Goring Hotel on April 29th – just before 11am – with her father, Michael Middleton, we were only allowed a glimpse of the white dress she would wear to marry her prince. As Middleton was driven along the mall, she waved to well-wishers and look positively delighted that the day had finally come.
When Middleton stepped out of the Rolls Royce in front of Westminster Abbey, yours truly was at a loss for words. A twitter friend wrote, “Now that’s a princess.” Middleton was poised, calm and gracious as she continued to wave to everyone. The events that followed went off without a hitch and there was a powerful sense of optimism and enchantment as Perry’s “I Was Glad,” began to play inside the Abbey.
Since April 29th, I’ve poured over countless photos and footage of the wedding and still can’t believe how glorious it all was. We’re so happy for Catherine and proud of her for the exemplary way she’s carried herself as a newly minted royal and the future Queen of England.
