Oh my poor misguided Lauren Conrad, what have you done?
Conrad, seen here walking her friend’s dog last week, recently posted a video (watch the clip below) of her web-only show Crafty Creations, which featured different ways to display vintage books. The video had her cutting off the spine of the books, and glued those parts to a storage box. The books ended up destroyed in the process.
She gleefully told her small army of viewers: “This is a great way too display vintage books, or slightly used books, and also create a unique storage space.”
One commenter replied to the issue with, “I have a few books I’d like to cut up. ONE OF THEM IS CALLED ‘L.A. Candy’ BY LAUREN CONRAD.”
So what were the comments like on You Tube?
On youtube, “dislikes” out numbered “likes” 8-to-1 and the comments were pretty scathing. One viewer, summing up the general tenor of responses, wrote, “Holy shit I feel like I’m watching some sort of terrible snuff film.”
Conrad has since removed the video. No comment as of yet from Conrad herself.
Buzzfeed originally posted the video and has a copy up on their site.
The author of the series had this to say about the incident:
It has always been my belief that people who spend too much time with my work end up as lost souls, drained of reason, who lead lives of raving emptiness and occasional lunatic violence. What a relief it is to see this documented.
