As a child in the high forest surrounding his Oregon home, Austin Scarlett lived with the beauty of nature. It gave the romantic setting for a fairytale view of his world and what it would become. His childhood was filled with make-believe.
His inclination toward fantasy set him apart from most of his schoolmates. Much of his classroom time was spent, not on the lesson, but drawing. His exceptionalism isolated him. His best friends were his younger sisters, who were always ready to be turned into beautiful princesses by their brother. [Austin Scarlett]
