State of the Blog Address
Once again, I’m here with some more nonsensical ramblings about what I’m up to these days. Well, there’s a lot of craziness going on at the moment, what with Lindsay Lohan’s current shenanigans, but I’m kind of not in the mood to chat about that in-depth, really. It’s just depressing, more than anything else. Britney’s taking dips in the ocean in her underwear and Lindsay seems to be well on her way to losing her ever-loving mind, so I’d rather take this opportunity to talk about fun stuff. Basically, this is going to be a sort of Lisa’s Favorite Things, sort of letter from the editor, much like Oprah’s Favorite Things, only nobody gets to win anything awesome. Sorry. I’m not quite Oprah status yet.
Lisa tells us her favorite things at the moment after the jump…
First off, there’s a new t-shirt I bought in Chinatown a few weeks ago. It says Tofu Robot on the front of it and I’m in a place in my life where a new, bright-green t-shirt with a cartoon of a robot still has the ability to make me happy. Also, despite the fact that I am three years short of thirty, I will wear it without a shred of irony or worry that perhaps I’m too old to be dressing like a five-year-old boy. How does this affect the blog, you might ask? Well, let’s just say that a happy Lisa is a prolific Lisa. It’s all very complicated and entrenched in complicated business-model something or others, meaning that in the long run, it’s good for business. Buy low and sell high and all that.
Next, I have to say that I’ve been brought up to speed on Showtime’s series, “Weeds” and am now a fan. Granted, there are certain aspects about the show for which you have to suspend disbelief, but I think it’s worth it to see Kevin Nealon being such a goofball. I’ve also been catching up via Netflix on “Extras” and “Scrubs” and am starting to realize that as much as I hear people complaining about bad television, I’m starting to realize that there’s actually a ton of good television out there. I used to be the girl who would lament the inexplicable success of such shows as “Yes Dear” and “According to Jim” but the more I load up my Netflix cue with one great television series after another, I’m starting to regain my faith in the entertainment industry.
Another show that’s currently on the airwaves that has my wholehearted stamp of approval is “Flight of the Conchords.” I know that I’ve made no secret of my love of the show, having had fallen in love with the series only after watching one episode, but these two just keep getting better and better. The songs are hilarious and blend in so well with their inane storylines. Watching Jemaine Clement dressed in full Ziggy Stardust gear, whilst floating around in the dreams of his roommate, Bret McKenzie was too hilarious for me to keep to myself, so here’s the clip.
And if you’re as obsessed with these guys as I am, you’ll want to check out Jemaine’s film, “Eagle Vs. Shark”, which I’ve yet to see, but is on my to-do list at the moment.
Well, this has been light-hearted and not at all substantive, but who cares? I’m having a good time.
