Ashton Kutcher is reportedly only contracted to appear on Two and a Half Men for a year. The 33-year-old signed to the popular television comedy series earlier this month and was officially confirmed as a cast member in New York last week. The star takes over from troubled actor Charlie Sheen, who was sacked after making unflattering remarks about those involved with the programme.
It has now been revealed Kutcher’s contract is only for a year. According to The Wall Street Journal, that’s partly because of other factors.
“CBS has licensed the show for only an additional year, according to [sources]. If CBS renews the show for a second year, then Warner Bros., a unit of Time Warner Inc., could renew Mr Kutcher for another season or are free to find another actor. Mr Kutcher, for his part, could also bow out,” the publication reports.
Meanwhile Ashton is currently taking part in the TechCruch Disrupt conference today. His tech projects include investments in Airbnb (where Kutcher also serves as an advisor), Foursquare and Path. He also co-founding Katalyst Media, which produces movies, TV shows, and web video. The actor has also just released his own Twitter application.
