With Arrow the top-rated drama on the CW, the show’s executive producers Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti all apparently feel more comfortable about embracing Queen’s comic book roots. In a sizzle reel of footage from the upcoming second season of Arrow, Queen (played by Stephen Amell) tells his trusted bodyguard Diggle (David Ramsey) that he doesn’t want to be called “The Hood” anymore.

The Green Arrow has arrived!

This season there are two new residents moving to Starling City – and they’re no friends of Arrow. The addition of a pair of villains based on characters from the DC Comics universe was announced Saturday at the Comic-Con presentation for the crime-fighting CW series Arrow

Spawn star Michael Jai White will play Ben Turner, a claw-wielding Suicide Squad assassin known as Bronze Tiger. He’ll form an alliance with China White, the alabaster-haired villainess played by Kelly Hu.

True Blood and Southland actor Kevin Alejandro will portray Sebastian Blood, a savvy politician based on the New Teen Titans baddie Brother Blood.

“It’s epic, it’s big and I hope you guys like it,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said of the new season, which takes a five-month jump into the future.

“This season is really about Oliver seeing that the city needs a symbol of hope… and he’s willing to step up to the plate.”

As Oliver does everything in the name of the slain Tommy (Colin Donnell) this season, he may find help from Roy Harper (Colton Haynes), who is still desperate to find the vigilante. “Roy wants that to happen and in the comics, it happens,” Haynes said of the possible partnership. “In a way, Season 2 can be like an island for Roy like it was for Oliver. Roy is going to have to go through the gamut of things and realize he isn’t as big of a badass as he thinks he is.”

In the sneak-peek trailer shown before the panel, we got a glimpse at Summer Glau‘s new character, who tussles with Oliver at Queen’s Consolidated.

Watch the following preview now and prepare for Arrow Season 2 to premiere on October 15.
