Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse. It seems several stars from YouTube who turned into viral web sensations are starring in a bizarre film that poses the question: What if the internet was its own world?
Monday saw a trailer for the film “The Chronicles of Rick Roll” released, featuring Antoine Dodson – seen above rocking some new colorful hair, the double rainbow guy, the freakout kid and many other people whom I’m sure you’ll recognize.
Executive producer Andrew Fischer estimates the half-dozen internet meme makers in the trailer have accounted for more than 2 billion page views combined. He hopes that the trailer will lead to further financial backing, allowing them to finish the film.
Fischer, who also wrote the script and appears as title character “Rick Rolland” (a role he said he’d happily hand over to a more professional actor), said the trailer was shot in Colorado in January. The film is basically a parody of The Chronicles of Narnia, The Lord of the Rings and Alice in Wonderland.[youtube]
What do you think of this? Will it catch on or not?
