Page Six had an encounter with a terrified Anna Wintour staffer. It sounds like Meryl might have actually played her down.
IF Emily Blunt deserves an Oscar for her portrayal of the hardworking, overly stressed assistant to the editor-in-chief of a top fashion magazine in “The Devil Wears Prada,” as some critics have said, imagine what the real-life assistants to Anna Wintour deserve – maybe Nobel Peace Prizes? A staffer at The Post received a frantic call from Wintour’s office the other morning. The young woman was near hysteria, asking how she could print out this newspaper’s entire online edition. After walking the Wintour underling through the steps, our colleague asked her, “Is she really that difficult?” “I can’t talk now. I’m too busy,” she replied and rang off.
If she had ended that call with, “she can’t know I’ve spoken to you, she’ll kill me. She has eyes everywhere!” and then a scream and the sound of a phone hitting the wall and a dial tone…let’s just say it wouldn’t be shocking. That bitch is scary.
