At the premiere of Salt, Angelina Jolie denied reports that she was settled in to play the iconic role of Cleopatra.
“I would be honored…But we haven’t gotten the script yet,” Jolie said.
The film would be a film adaptation of an upcoming historical biography entitled Queen Of The, Cleopatra: A Life. Well, hell if the book isn’t even out yet then how are they even thinking about a movie yet? And I feel things like that are better with unknowns.
But apparently the book publisher Little, Brown confirmed that Jolie was in talks to portray the famous Egyptian queen, saying, “Angelina Jolie radiates grace and power, exactly the qualities that [author] Stacy Schiff finds in her biography of the most intriguing ruler who ever lived,” Little, Brown publisher Michael Pietsch told Us.
Coincidentally, rumors have swirled that Jolie could play Elizabeth Taylor (who took on the Cleopatra role in a 1963 epic) in another future biopic, probably because of the Cleo connection. “I have never heard that before,” Jolie said. “I don’t think that anybody could be Elizabeth Taylor better than Elizabeth Taylor.”
Ain’t that the truth.
