An Open Letter To Steven Moffat: Let’s Talk About ‘Doctor Who’
Hi. How are you? Hope you’re well. Listen, we need to have a very serious talk about Doctor Who and what you plan to do with it.
Here’s the thing Steven, I used to be your biggest fan. Coupling? Love it. Doctor Who: The Curse Of Fatal Death? Love it. Episodes you wrote in the first 4 season of the Doctor Who reboot like “The Empty Child” and “Blink”? Love them. But things have taken a interesting turn.
I won’t get started on the fact that you’re introducing a new 9th Doctor or that you’ve forbid people from Comic Con to upload the 50th anniversary trailer. (For the record, I think it’s fine that the people at Comic Con got to see it first, but I think it’s ridiculous that you’ve threatened them every getting anything again if they put it up.)
No Steven, what we’re here to talk about today is what you’re gonna do with Doctor Who in coming seasons. Yesterday you announced that actor Peter Capaldi would be taking over the role as the 12th Doctor. Yes! He’s is incredibly talented and he’ll definitely bring a new vibe to the role of the Doctor. And I’m so excited to see how he interacts with Clara.
LOSTseries finale on us, I will be very angry.
Steven, I know you’re talented, so use your talent for good and not for confusion. I am beyond excited about Peter and all I want is for you to use him properly. Remember, Doctor Who–at its core–is a show for families about an alien having adventures. Let him have his adventures.
Please & thank you,
