Alex Pettyfer To Play Channing Tatum In Stripper Movie
I Am Number Four star Alex Pettyfer is set to star alongside Channing Tatum in a film about male strippers. The 21-year-old actor has been chosen to be the young Tatum during the Step Up actor’s days as a young male stripper.
The film, which will be directed by Academy Award-winning helmer Steven Soderbergh, is loosely based on Tatum’s real-life experience when he was 19. It will be a story of “friendship set in the world of male strippers.”
According to Deadline, Pettyfer was chosen by Soderbergh for the role in Magic Mike. Tatum will play the title character in the film. He mentors a young dancer (Pettyfer) to make it on and off the stage.
Tatum had said of the project last month, “This was a wild and pivotal time in my life and I couldn’t be more thrilled to go down the rabbit hole with Steven.” Soderbergh is using Saturday Night Fever as a model in making the film, which he called “sexy, funny and shocking.”
