Adam Lambert Scores First Number One Album & Makes The Record Books!
Adam Lambert’s Trespassing rose above the competition to debut at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 this week. The singer’s second album sold 77,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, putting him 14,000 ahead of Adele’s 21 for the week and 23,000 ahead of the No. 3 album, Carrie Underwood’s Blown Away.
Trespassing also topped the Billboard Digital Albums Chart and Canada’s Digital Albums Chart. Adam’s debut, For Your Entertainment, debuted at No. 3 in November 2009, selling 198,000 copies.
Just as importantly, this album made the record books as well. He’s become the first out male artist to have a #1 album. Other gay performers such as Elton John and George Michael made it to the top of the charts, but only prior to coming out.
Hugs to Adam and his amazing fans for making this happen!
