Last night’s VMAs were quite tame, albeit a little dull. Let’s do a run-through of what worked and what didn’t work, hmmm? First off, who the hell is Kevin Hart? His pre-recorded skits were kind of funny (Ughh, I hate to admit that Rebecca Black did a good job), but his onstage schtick was really stupid.
I don’t know about you guys, but I’m really over Joe Calderone, Lady Gaga‘s alter ego. It’s fine if she wanted to perform “You & I” as Joe, but we weren’t into it when he showed up to present Britney Spears with her award instead of Gaga. Stop hitting on Britney. It’s gross.
Speaking of Britney, you tell her you’re giving her the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award and then make her introduce Beyonce? Why don’t you just have Beyonce dance along to all of her numbers, then come onstage to sweep the Moon Man out of her hands? Brit didn’t even get to give much of an acceptance speech.
How cute was Jay-Z when he was applauding his pregnant wife’s performance? How f****ing cute. And Kanye West all excited for his pal, jumping around and playfully jabbing him. Adorable. Men and the miracle of life.
With that said, I wish Beyonce would stop moving around on stage so much. I’m no doctor, but that can’t be good for the baby.
I cried when Adele sang “Someone Like You.” I cried by myself in my sweatpants as I stared at her holding back tears and belting out some of the most powerful lyrics I’ve ever heard.
Dear Justin Bieber-God and Jesus are the same being, so you only need to thank one or the other.
