2007 Emmy Winners Happy to Take Home Their Pointy Statues

September 17th, 2007 // 1 Comment

By far the statue with the most dangerous design, the Emmy was taken home last night by actresses Katherine Heigl, America Ferrera, Helen Mirren and Sally Field for their work in television. For the men, Ricky Gervias, James Spader, Robert Duvall and Terry O’Quinn took home the pointy figurine after last night. The big winners of the evening were “30 Rock,” named Outstanding Comedy Series and the big finale of the evening was Helen Mirren’s announcement that “The Sopranos” had taken home the coveted Oustanding Drama win. All in all, I’d say that the Emmys were so-so this year. The set, albeit “green,” felt awkward–about as awkward as Ryan Seacrest’s gay jokes. In particular, his attempt to goof on his former alleged “relationship” with Teri Hatcher felt especially forced. However, everybody was pretty much impeccably dressed and coiffed, with nobody really standing out as a major “fashion disaster” as far as I can remember. One note for the evening that I have is that we need to see more Elaine Strich on television. In case you feel like you missed out, you can check out ASL’s complete Emmy coverage of the telecast here.

All the Emmy red carpet photos (everyone from Hayden Panettiere to Sandra Oh to Christina Aguilera to Mark Wahlberg to Kate Walsh) you could ever want (just kidding – well not really, there are tons after the jump – but more to come later today) are after the jump.

“Emmy” awards? They’re giving awards for television? Why? It’s television.
I remember my mommy gave me an award the first time I did poopie in the potty by myself. Is this something like that?
